And then there were…? With the clock ticking on CPS’ Pension Enhancement Program, a slew of principals have recently announced their retirement in advance of the March 30 deadline. Lane Tech Principal Dr. Antoinette LoBosco made her decision just under the wire, sending an email to staff late Friday evening at the start of spring break, informing them that June 30 will be her last day at Lane’s helm.
LoBosco has logged 39 years with CPS, the last 25 at Lane Tech, 2501 W. Addison St. She started as a history teacher and eventually moved into administrative posts, serving as Lane’s admissions director and then assistant principal before being named to the top spot five years ago. Lane’s Local School Council will now begin the search for LoBosco’s replacement, who could be selected before the new LSC is seated July 1.
“It is simply time for me to pass the torch to younger, more energetic staff,” wrote LoBosco in her email, citing plans to spend time with her extended family, as well as reading, traveling and sleeping.
“At the risk of sounding maudlin,” she concluded, “it has been my sincere privilege to serve as Lane’s principal.”
