Thursday: Meet Up With NPN At Giddings Plaza Concert

By Ellie Ander | Tuesday, June 28, 2011

The Lincoln Square Giddings Plaza Concert Series is finally here! And despite the random chilly summer days we’ve had this year, no event more is more a sign of summer than this weekly event–an event that for two and a half great hours every Thursday evening draws in crowds of all demographics, age, and all walks of life, cats, dogs, birds alike.

As a California transplant to Lincoln Square, and a parent of one super energetic toddler monster and one on the way, I can’t wait to take advantage of all of the family fun my neighborhood has cooking up for us! So, this Thursday, June 30th, we’re headed out for a double dose of fun hanging out with Neighborhood Parents Network’s (NPN) Lincoln Square/Northcenter Neighborhood Group, while listening to the cool beats of Drop Steady, playing at the Giddings Plaza.

There, I can be sure my little monster will run and dance around, using up whatever left-over energy he was saving for the usual bedtime battles, and thereby ensuring a restful, sleep-the-whole-way-through the night sleep. We are sure to build up an appetite and two favorite options for eats (waiting to see where my cravings direct me): Thursday evening Lincoln Square Farmers Market, and of course and the German deliciousness of Chicago Brauhaus.

Yes, it’s true that this California girl thinks there is nothing quite like summer time in Chicago, and nothing more unique than what Lincoln Square has to offer.  So get your family out the door this Thursday evening and enjoy some entertainment with the Summer Concert Series at Giddings Plaza, make great connections with other families through NPN’s Lincoln Square/Northcenter Neighborhood Group, and eat well. See you there!
