Winter Parking Bans Start Thursday

The winter parking ban signs you should look out for. From City of Chicago.

Tomorrow’s the first day of December and that means seasonal parking bans on our arterial streets! Hurrah!

Contrary to popular belief, there’s two you should be watching out for: The everyday ban on Foster Ave. and other some other major streets that runs regardless of snow from 3:00 a.m. to 7:00 a.m. and the 2-inches of snow ban that runs on every arterial street in the city like Addison, Montrose, Western and Ashland Avenues.

Violators are subject to a $150 towing fee, plus a $50 ticket plus $10 for each day they don’t pick up their car. And, as this reporter can attest, there’s no guarantee your car will emerge from the lot unscratched.

Both parking bans runs through April 1. For a brief history on the ban and further details on the rules, check out our friends at The Expired Meter.
