“Winning” at The Piggery

Taking advantage of a moment in celebrity notoriety, The Piggery and Gold Coast Tickets put together a Charlie Sheen impersonation competition Tuesday.

A dozen impersonators donned their finest Charlie Sheen outfits, roared out and spilled their tiger blood to compete for Piggery gift certificates and free tickets to see Sheen perform his “My Violent Torpedo of Truth” show at the Chicago Theater Sunday.

Judges Warren Phynix Johnson and Emily Wilson of Second City and stand-up comedian John Bolgen chose the winning-est candidates.

Some assumed the character seamlessly, while others adopted various TV and movie characters played by the iconic actor. One contestant simply stumbled on stage drunk.

The Piggery, 1625 W. Irving Park Road, was packed. Between contestants, Emcee Ben Gosselin of Gold Coast Tickets quizzed the crowd on Sheen’s career and personal life.
