Wine Lovers Take Note

Wine lovers take note: The Chopping Block is hosting its first Wine Tasting Open House to introduce its summer wine list. The occasion will feature an hour and a half of grapely goodness, more than 25 hand-selected wines, and distributors within reach to walk you through the sumptuous sipping?all for $5. Yes, $5! I had to call Diana Hamann, the Wine Director at the Chopping Block, just to make sure there wasn?t a misprint. She confirmed my skepticism with a laugh, ?Yes, it is a raging good deal, all right!?

Hamann changes the wine list quarterly. ?Historically, we’ve had our staff come in for the tastings. It was such a hoot ‘n’ holler of a good time that we thought, why not invite our customers??

Mini tables will be set up throughout the Chopping Block to allow distributors a space to answer your questions, keep your glass full and, of course, your mind in a delightful stupor. A 10% discount (per case) will also be available for those looking to stock up their personal cellars.

The event will take place in Lincoln Square on Monday, June 7, from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Registration is required and available through the Chopping Block?s website or by phoning the store at ?(773) 472-6700.

As of my last check, there are still 13 spots available. However, I was assured that if demand required, Hamann would consider opening up additional spots.

So sign up, swirl, savor, and sip!
