Today Thomas J. Waters Elementary School, 4540 N. Campbell Ave., officially opened its new cafeteria annex and eco-friendly landscaping with a ribbon cutting attended by over 200 parents, community members and students.

The $4 million Chicago Public Schools project, paid for in part by Tax Increment Financing funds, includes a green roof and eco-friendly dish washing system for the new cafeteria, a new recycled-rubber artificial turf playing field, and?permeable?pavers for a new patio and school parking lot.

The dedication ceremony included an all-school sing, performances by students and parents, and an e-waste drop-off.

The project was designed by John Lemotte of the Lakota Group.
