Want Free Food Tix to Square Roots? Volunteer

By Patty Wetli | Tuesday, July 10, 2012

The Square Roots festival, set for July 20 – 22, is sending out a call for volunteers. Take donations at the gate, check IDs, pour and serve beverages or sell tickets. Not a bad way to earn a t-shirt and food tickets for each shift worked.

Organizers tell us they still have a need to fill the following positions:

  • Donations at the gate; third shift Friday, Saturday and Sunday (7 p.m., 6 p.m., and 5 p.m. to close, respectively)
  • ID line, checking for 21 or older; needed for all shifts
  • Beer booth, pouring and serving beverages; most shifts available except Friday night
  • Ticket booth; all shifts

Approximate shift times:

  • Friday 4-7 p.m.,  7-10 p.m.
  • Saturday 11 a.m. – 3 p.m., 2:30-6:30 p.m., 6 – 10 p.m.
  • Sunday 11 a.m. – 2:30 p.m., 2-5:30 p.m., 5 – 8 p.m.

A post-event party will be held at the DANK Haus on July 31 to honor the fest’s volunteers. Volunteer registration form available here.

Square Roots will take place on Lincoln Avenue, between Montrose and Wilson. All proceeds benefit the Old Town School of Folk Music and the Lincoln Square Chamber of Commerce for music programming, summer concerts, ongoing music education and farmers markets.
