When I think Bleeding Heart Bakery, Harley-Davidson springs to mind more than Cadillac. But BHB proved it can do classy as well as rock ‘n’ roll, taking first prize in the Cadillac of Cakes Competition held during the First Look for Charity Night at the Chicago Auto Show.
Competing against Roeser’s Bakery and TipsyCake, the brain trust at Bleeding Heart was given 20 days to design and construct as elaborate and original a cake as it could concoct to represent the theme: “Cadillac. The New Standard of the World.”
Cakes were judged on how well they incorporated the theme into their design, and also received points for creativity, difficulty and taste.
While the Auto Show panel put Bleeding Heart on top, the public now has a chance to weigh in with their opinion. Voting is open through March 13—cast a ballot and you’ll be entered in a sweepstakes for a chance to take home a Cake of Your Dreams from the winning bakery.
If you can’t wait until March to taste one of Bleeding Heart’s delectable confections, Valentine’s Day is right around the corner. In a gift to its customers, the bakery, normally closed on Mondays, announced it will be open for business on the holiday, 9 a.m. – 9 p.m.
As a special treat, Bleeding Heart is whipping up cakes-for-two, a super-sized version of any of its cupcakes, perfect for a romantic dinner with your sweetheart (order in advance). Because nothing says “I love you” quite as well as chocolate whiskey cake.
