Two 47th Ward Forums Scheduled

By Mike Fourcher | Thursday, January 20, 2011

Now that Ald. Eugene Schulter has announced his retirement and the 47th Ward has an open seat race with five weeks to go, candidate forums have suddenly become much more interesting.

The Center Square Journal and Inside Publications have scheduled a candidates forum for Tuesday, February 15 at 7:00 pm at the DANK Haus, 4740 N. Western Ave. The moderator will be Mick Dumke, political reporter from the Chicago News Cooperative.

But first candidates will have to make it through next Wednesday’s forum sponsored by the Northcenter Neighborhood Association, Lakeview Action Coalition, Organization of the North East and Roscoe Village Neighbors.

The neighborhood organization forum, to be held at Coonley Elementary School, 4046 N. Leavitt St., will begin at 7:00 pm.

All four candidates for 47th Ward Alderman, Tom Jacks, Tom O’Donnell, Ameya Pawar and Matt Reichel, have been invited to both forums.

In addition, candidates for the CSJ-Inside forum have been asked to complete a questionnaire, the answers to which will be published in advance of CSJ-Inside forum. Attendees of the CSJ-Inside forum will also be able to submit their own written questions to the moderator to go to the candidates.

Questions about the 47th Ward Forum can be directed to Mike Fourcher.
