Recently a discussion in the blogosphere has bubbled up regarding the best french fries in Chicagoland.  Steve Dolinsky kicked off the discussion, but only two spots are in the city of Chicago. This led Chicagoist to counter with its list, which includes Sola in Northcenter.

Happily (or perhaps sadly for my cholesterol levels), I can think of several worthy candidates within our Lincoln Square and Northcenter neighborhoods. In no particular order, my top recommendations are listed below. If I’m missing out on anything, please let me know in the comments section. I’ve already heard that I need to add Chubby Weiners to my next Spud Crawl itinerary.

Saw the headline in my RSS feed and thought “Smokin Woody’s HAS to be on that list” Glad to see they were included.

Smokin’ Woody’s is definitely pretty good. Although it’s a slight trek for anyone in the Square, Smokey Bear’s BBQ on Foster and Kimball has VERY good sweet potato fries. One of the foodie columnists of Chicago mentioned them once, so I had to try the fries. They are well worth it, imho.
