Tonight: Music, Farmers, Music

The weather forecast calls for the lower 7o’s and clear skies this evening, much like last night. This is the summer you’ve been waiting for. Get out and do some stuff.
- Like every Thursday in the summer The Lincoln Square Chamber is sponsoring their summer concert series in Giddings Plaza, at Lincoln Ave and Giddings St. from 6:30 to 9:00 p.m. They’re always homey, accompanied by the bubbling of the fountain and a popcorn cart that always seems to materialize. Tonight: the Spanish-inflected acoustic guitar and horns of Doko Benjo.
- Just a few steps away is the Thursday evening Farmers’ Market in the parking lot at Lincoln and Leland Aves. from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Usually not as well stocked as the Tuesday daylight market, it’s still pretty darned convenient if you’re just stepping off the El and you’re looking for something to perk up dinner.
- Tonight, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. the North River Commission kicks off their pair of summer concerts in Ronan Park (the other will be on Thursday, July 28) at the fairly out-of-the-way location of Ainslie and Francisco Aves. Tonight will be the tropical music of the Roots Rock Society and the more staid Uptown Strings.
