The big tent is up at Leland and Western and street closure barriers are in place. It can only mean one thing: It’s time for Lincoln Square’s German-American Festival.

The event kicks off Friday, Sept. 7, 5 – 11 p.m., with the official opening ceremony at 8 p.m. On Saturday, the festival runs noon – 11 p.m.; the annual Steuben Parade gets under way at 2 p.m., Lincoln and Irving Park. Sunday’s hours are noon – 10 p.m., with a German mass and service scheduled for 11 a.m.

Admission to the festival is free. Enjoy food, dancing, entertainment and of course beer.

Okay, I’m being picky, but it’s Lederhosen (as in, leather pants), as opposed to Liederhosen (song pants).

That’s not being picky. Thanks for pointing out the mistake–fixed.
