The Neighborhood Nutrition Centers, a local non-profit dedicated to the ambitious goal of, “building a Local Community Food System,” has been steadily working through various Chicago neighborhoods to encourage residents to grow food in their own backyards for the needy.

This week NNC’s Les Kiskern is hosting a information meeting for anyone interested in learning more about growing food crops in their own yards, including technical growing tips, how to test your soil to determine the best crops and how you can donate your crops to families in need of better nutrition.

Join Les on Thursday evening from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Beans & Bagels, 2601 W. Leland Ave. You can RSVP at les@nncenters.org.
