Feeling in a rut? There’s no excuse to stay there with so many creative opportunities right around the corner.

Chicago Photography Center, 3301 N. Lincoln Ave., offers classes for everyone from budding shutterbugs to advanced professionals, in both digital and film formats. One-day workshops and certificate programs are also available, as well as free basic camera workshops. An upcoming one-time special workshop on tattoo photography is scheduled for Feb. 4.

Paper Source, 3543 N. Southport Ave., encourages customers to “do something creative every day.” Check out upcoming Valentine’s workshops.

Give Me Some Sugar, 2205 W. Belmont Ave. If you resolved to have fun with fondant in 2012, this is the place for you. The schedule of classes includes cake decorating, candy making, cooking decorating and something called “Cupcakes and Cocktails.” Sign me up!

Wishcraft, 2312 W. Roscoe St., has all kinds of crafty ideas, but the main emphasis is on sewing. They’ll provide the sewing machine or teach you how to use your own contraption. Advanced sewers will learn professional finishing techniques and how to customize patterns.
