Take a Two-Wheeled Tour of Northcenter

By Patty Wetli | Wednesday, July 11, 2012

To look at it now, you’d never know that Northcenter was once an industrial hub, home to laborers who toiled in the factories and clay pits along the North Branch of the Chicago River. For a glimpse of the neighborhood’s past and the way it evolved over the past century, join Chicago Neighborhood Bike Tours on a narrated architectural and historical ride through Northcenter, Saturday, July 14.

The leisurely 14-mile ride gets rolling at 11 a.m., starting at Revere Park, 2509 W. Irving Park Rd. Over the course of four hours, organizer Lee Diamond will guide riders through Northcenter, Roscoe Village and St. Ben’s, highlighting buildings and events of significance.

The tour costs $9; registration is required. Helmets are a must but bikes aren’t. You can borrow one from CNBT, provided you email them your request in advance.

See you round the clay pits.
