Yep, it’s official, it’s summer in Lincoln Square. Our first clue: The popular Thursday night free concert series kicks off in Giddings Plaza, June 14, with Sons of the Never Wrong taking the stage. Weather permitting, concerts are scheduled every Thursday, 6:30 – 9 p.m., through September 6, with musical styles ranging from classic rock to swing.
The Thursday evening Farmers Market also debuts June 14, 4 p.m., at Lincoln and Leland, running through October 25. Along with fresh fruits and vegetables, the market features meats, cheeses, flowers and baked goods. A new addition this year: Wellness in the Market, every third Thursday. Dieticians and experts from chiropractic, optical and fitness practices will be on hand to host demonstrations and provide information on health and wellness.
Returning vendors include Angel Food Bakery, 1636 W. Montrose Ave. (count us first in line for a cornmeal cookie) and Pizza D.O.C. Make it a date night: Pick up a mini-pizza and a sweet treat at the market, then head over to the plaza for dinner and a concert under the stars.
