‘Stretch to the Cure’: Bloom Yoga to Donate Class Proceeds to Cancer Research
Yoga and Pilates studios across the U.S. are joining with the National Foundation for Cancer Research for “Stretch to the Cure,” a week-long event to help fund cancer research. During the week of Sept. 20-26, these studios will donate the proceeds from at least one of their classes to NFCR. Local yoga studio Bloom (4663 N. Rockwell St.) is among those participating.
In a press release, Bloom Yoga Studio Director Kerry Maiorca described the many benefits of this event. “We’re excited to participate in ‘Stretch to the Cure’ because it gives individuals a concrete way to contribute to NFCR’s groundbreaking cancer prevention efforts while caring for themselves at the same time,” she said. “Though yoga is by no means a cure for cancer, the practices of deep breathing, gentle stretching, strengthening, and relaxation are steps towards a healthier lifestyle, which can significantly reduce the risk of getting cancer.”
