With the first phase of grid-based garbage collection set to roll out next Monday, June 11, Streets and San crews blanketed affected wards with notices informing residents of the change in service.
Chicagoans in Wards 40, 46, 47, 48, 49, 50 and a portion of 44 will discover flyers taped to their garbage bins and, for good measure, front doors, noting their new date for garbage pick-up. A handy color-coded map below also demonstrates the new schedule for refuse collection, which is based on a geographic grid as opposed to ward boundaries.
An important note regarding recycling: For homeowners who receive curbside blue cart recycling services, the day of service will change to coincide with garbage collection. Service for residents who participate in alley blue cart recycling will not experience any changes.
Just one question: Who’s in charge of notifying the squirrels?
