Name: Michael Nico

What neighborhood he lives in: Ravenswood

Where we saw him: North Damen and West Sunnyside avenues

What concerns do you have with you neighborhood?

Rising rent cost.

What do you like about Ravenswood?

It’s in the middle of the city, and it’s still a pretty safe neighborhood. Well, what I consider to be safe.

So what do you do now?

I’m a vendor. I work at the ballpark. I love my job.

What do you like about it?

I’m in the ballpark! It’s a great environment. I’m out in the sun, I’m interacting with people, and it’s all very quick. It’s all over before you know it, and it’s an opportunity to make great money even if you don’t always do that.

Was it always something you wanted to do?

No, it’s something I lucked into. I met something and one thing led to another. It’s not something I dreamed of doing. I just kinda got lucky through serendipity.

In your future do you see yourself working there?

Hopefully, but I’d like to see myself opening my own business.

What would you want that to be?

I’d like to take care of animals–dog walking and stuff like that. I love animals.

How many pets do you have?

I don’t have any. My building won’t allow it. I could get a gold fish or something, but I don’t have a cat or a dog. It’s a responsibility, and I wouldn’t want to neglect it.
