A group of neighborhood residents, press, and Dominick’s employees watched in awe today as a 500-pound, LED Dominick’s sign was hoisted into place at the new (but not yet open) store at 5233 N. Lincoln Ave. Dominick’s has been on this site since 1975. The old store was torn down and this modernized version (which will include such features as an extensive cheese department, hearth oven bakery, and sushi chef) was built in its place.

The new store will bring approximately 100 jobs to Lincoln Square, boast more than 120 parking spaces on site, and will be one of only 52 lifestyle format stores that the company has built since 2006.

The grand opening is slated for late September 2010.

Nice. I wonder if we will ever get a nice fresh produce place… I wouldn’t even mind a Whole Foods in the LS, NC area… maybe Western Avenue or by the River would be great (like the one by Goose Island)

spyro: agreed! a trader joe’s or whole foods in this neck of the woods would be great

Spyro, there are plans to build a Mariano’s (similar to Whole Foods) at Lawrence/Ravenswood.

Have you guys ever heard of Harvestime on Lawrence between Rockwell and California? Way better and cheaper produce than anywhere I’ve found; blows Trader Joe’s and Whole Foods out of the water and gives Stanley’s a run for its money.

    HarvesTime is THE BEST!

I agree. You can keep Trader Joe’s and Whole Foods. I’ll take Harvestime any day of the week!!
