The residents and businesses of Lakeview have taken the lead in a petition campaign to save the #11 Lincoln Avenue bus, following CTA’s announcement last week that it plans to cut service on the route between Western and Fullerton.

Lincoln Square and Northcenter neighbors will be affected by the service cuts as well. Though CTA reasons that the Lincoln bus duplicates Brown Line rail service, their logic doesn’t seem to factor in the elderly or Jewel shoppers.

The Save the #11 Bus movement is aiming to collect 1,000 signatures (sign here) to deliver to CTA President Forrest Claypool on Friday. A public hearing to obtain input on the proposed route cuts is scheduled for Sept. 4, 6 p.m., 567 W. Lake St.
