Ribfest came to a roaring close on Sunday with capacity crowds and food shortages as the sun went down.
By 8:00 p.m. Ribfest officials were passing flyers to festgoers notifying them that some restaurants had run out of food.
The judged rib contest also brought a major surprise Sunday evening. The professional panel, made up of Chicago Reader food critic Mike Sula, ABC-7′s Steve Dolinsky and barbeque expert Gary Wiviott chose Korean barbeque spot Woori Village, 8526 W. Golf, Niles, as the best of the fest. Chicago Joe’s, 2256 W. Irving Park Rd., took #2, while Celtic Crown, 4301 N. Western Ave., which recently changed owners, took #3.
CSJ photographer Brad Bretz strolled through the fest on Sunday afternoon and caught some great shots of the goings on.
