Chicago Ribfest had its best attendance ever this year, says Northcenter Chamber of Commerce Associate Director Brad Ball. 55,000 people were tallied through the gates, in comparison to 36,000 last year and 49,000 in 2009.
“Without the extra block, we would not have been able to fit all those people into the festival,” said Ball. The Northcenter Chamber which owns and operates the festival, received permission to extend the festival an additional block this year.
The Chamber staff will not have dollar figures from the festival for another month, but they were able to share some other eye-popping festival numbers:
“[We] had to turn volunteers away [this year], which we’ve never done before,” said Ball.
