This weekend’s first ever Ravenswood Remix recycled art fair was doused by torrential rains on Saturday, but bounced back Sunday with a good turnout under cooler and dryer conditions. Some artists and vendors were temporarily flooded out of their tents Saturday afternoon, but returned Sunday to display a fantastic variety of recycled art and eco-friendly goods, including jewelry made from broken china by Material + Movement, organic cotton children’s clothing from Earth Cadets, and handbags fashioned out of board games, playbills, and book covers by Gina Marie Handbags.

Free workshops covered topics such as how to plan a zero-waste event, arts and crafts projects for kids using old CD’s, and hula-hooping! The friendly bulldogs from Chicago English Bulldog Rescue Inc. were a festival favorite, as well as a Talking Heads cover band performance by This Must Be the Band. All donations from the event will benefit Hamilton Elementary School’s arts program.
