Do you think your property taxes are too high? Check your tax bill; if it says you live in Lakeview Township then now is your chance to get that tax bill fixed.
Ald. Waguespack will host the Chicago Tax Assistance Center on Monday Jan. 31 at the 32nd Ward office at 2657 N. Clybourn.
“Ald. Waguespack is encouraging any constituent who believes their property assessment may be high relative to similarly situated properties to submit an appeal to help improve the uniformity and fairness of property assessments in the Ward,” said director of outreach Elizabeth Gomez in a statement to Roscoe View Journal.
Personal finance experts recommend appealing property taxes because “you have nothing to lose.” Look closely at your bill to find errors and to see if you agree with what the assessor considers your home to be worth.
Staff will be on-hand from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. to help you complete your appeal. You can obtain the Board of Review complaint form here.
If you can’t make it out to the open clinic, Ald. Waguespack’s office will be able to assist residents on their appeal. Those wishing to appeal can drop off their forms at the Ward office until Feb. 9.
