The Northcenter Chamber of Commerce organized a veterans remembrance ceremony on Friday morning and were kind enough to send us a release and photos. From Donna Schultz:
The Northcenter Chamber of Commerce held it’s annual Veterans Day commemorative service in Town Square Friday.
Despite the chilly weather, neighbors and veterans turned out to honor the men and women who have served in our armed forces. The ceremony started with the presentation of colors by the Lake View High School Junior ROTC and an invocation by Father Rex of St. Benedict’s Church.
Northcenter Chamber President Simon Stein recognized neighborhood businessmen and Viet Nam veterans Erik Godvik and George Rimel for their past service. State Representative Greg Harris, 47th Ward Alderman Ameya Pawar and Karen Kwiatkowaki, past VFW 1st District president also addressed the audience. Maribel Selva, neighborhood realtor and first vice president of the chamber, was the mistress of ceremony.
The ceremony concluded with the flag being raised in Town Square by local VFW members.
