The 47th Ward Young Democrats Organization is hosting a Holiday Food Drive benefitting Common Pantry, Chicago’s oldest food pantry.
“We are pleased to be able to support this worthy organization during this holiday time of year. We hope this event generates awareness of the real need that exits in our community,” 47th Ward Young Democrats President Jeremy Custer said.
The event will take place at O’Shaughnessy’s Public House on Thursday, December 15th from 7-10 p.m. Drink specials will be available in exchange for canned food items. The event is open to the public.
Common Pantry is seeking food items such as cereal, pasta, tuna, rice, beans, oatmeal, canned fruit, boxed dinners, vegetable oil, chicken/beef/vegetable broth, coffee and personal items including shampoo, deodorant, toothbrushes, shaving razors, zip lock bags and plastic wrap.
The 47th Ward Young Democrats is a chapter of the Young Democrats of Illinois. The goal of the organization is to get young people in Ravenswood, Lincoln Square, North Center, northern Lakeview and Graceland West involved in local politics and government.
