I think we can all agree that vacant storefronts project a less than attractive image. But how about a vacant storefront filled with art?

Drop by the opening reception of the International Art Group’s latest showing, which debuts Saturday, Feb. 25, 7-11 p.m., in the vacant property at 4161 N. Damen Ave.

The pop-up art gallery is the latest effort from the Phantom Gallery Chicago Network. The organization serves as a sort of Match.com between artists seeking exhibit space and building owners seeking tenants, who are willing to donate the use of their empty storefronts until they can find a paying renter. It’s a win-sort-of-win situation.

The International Art Group holds a monthly salon series that will now meet at the space on Damen until the property is otherwise leased. The next meeting is scheduled for March 12 at 6 p.m.
