Ald. Ameya Pawar (47th) plans to unveil his public schools initiative, “Grow 47″ and provide a 100 days report this Friday evening at 7:00 p.m. at Centro Chicago, 3819 N. Ashland Ave.
Pawar has been hinting at the initiative at recent public appearances and has been drawing connections to improving schools at every opportunity, including last week’s Lawrence Ave. streetscape plans presentation, where he suggested the streetscape plan was, “to enhance schools while improving Lawrence Avenue.”
Grow 47′s promises are ambitious. A flyer distributed by Ald. Pawar for the event states, “Too many families are moving from the ward to the suburbs for a complete K-12 school system. GROW47 will partner: parents, homeowners, renters, business owners and property owners to improve our schools. My office will then work to direct 47th Ward TIF money back into these schools.”
