Pawar Names Zoning Advisory Committee

By Mike Fourcher | Monday, September 12, 2011

The proposed Lycee Francais school on Wilson and Damen, seen here in a rendering, would also be reviewed by Ald. Ameya Pawar's new Zoning Advisory Committee.

Last week Ald. Ameya Pawar announced the formation of a new zoning advisory committee, which would provide advice on all applications in the 47th Ward for zoning changes, administrative adjustments, liquor licenses, or special use permits.

The advisory committee is part of a series of zoning and permitting review changes promised by Pawar in his successful spring election. The new process, meant to increase transparency,  requires developers to submit a detailed application form posted on Pawar’s website and to be available for a public meeting with local neighborhood groups before consideration for approval.

The advisory committee already has significant work ahead of it. Pawar’s aldermanic website lists fourteen zoning projects currently up for review.

Ald. Pawar did not provide background information on members of his zoning advisory committee. Below is information we were about to find on members through an internet search and previous reporting.
