In his weekly email to constituents, Ald. Ameya Pawar (47th) announced that in late May he ordered a halt to all resurfacing projects in the 47th Ward because some roads were being immediately ripped up by ongoing work by People’s Gas.

“There are at least 3 projects where tax dollars (City or State) would have resurfaced the road, that would have then been torn up later this summer,” said Pawar in his email message. “For now, we estimate that hundreds of thousands of dollars will be saved through better coordination. But more importantly, we are working collaboratively with the Chicago Department on Transportation to fix any coordination problems between utilities, CDOT and the 47th ward office.”

Pawar says his office staff is working quickly to complete their assessment and redirect Aldemanic menu funds to complete resurfacing projects before the end of the summer construction season.

Was wondering why the half-block of road by my place on Sunnyside and Rockwell has been left unfinished since they (needlessly it appears) dug it up about 3 weeks ago.
