As part of probably the worst deal in Chicago history, parking meters in Center Square will be going up another quarter next month to $1.75 an hour. Meters in the Loop will go up to $5.75 between 8:00 a.m. and 9:00 p.m., with an off-hour half rate, and between Halsted St. and the lake, North Ave. and Roosevelt Ave., meters will go up to $3.75 an hour.

Meters have to be adjusted manually, so the switchover will occur gradually during January.

If that doesn’t get you mad, just think about the combined 254,381 parking tickets issued in the 32nd Ward and 44th Wards in 2010.
