The NorthCenter Chamber of Commerce conducted their annual meeting last Tuesday at Cafe 28 where members elected new board members, reelected Chamber officers and recognized outgoing board members.
Joining the Board for a new two-year term are Joe Burke from National City Mortgage, Nick Gyllin from True North Travel Solutions, Sarah Spraker from Concordia Place-Avondale and Shawauna Ward from National City Bank.
Leaving the Board ?and recognized for their service are Donna Schultz from Donna Schultz Graphic Design, Maribel Selva from Coldwell Banker Resident Mortgage, Mike Chapman from Kokopelli Communications Group, Inc., Tony Athans, owner of Lincoln Restaurant, and Vincent Saverino from Ravenswood Bank.
Schultz, Selva and Athans have all been long-time Chamber board members and were term-limited from serving further on the Board. Board members are limited to two two-year terms.
Athans was recognized for his work to promote the NorthCenter Rib Fest. When it started as a neighborhood gathering, Lincoln Restaurant was the only restaurant participating. Later, Athans devised the plan to make it a profit-center for the Chamber and provide most of the Chamber’s annual operating funds.
Chapman, a marketing consultant, was recognized for promoting the Chamber’s easily recognizable “N” in a circle along with the grey and orange color scheme. “Prior to our branding effort four years ago, most people in the neighborhood didn’t even know they lived in NorthCenter,” said Chamber Executive Director, Garrett FitzGerald.
Board member Robert Engel from Angel Sales, Inc., was reelected for a second one-year term as President and Simon Stein from Wintrust Mortgage was reelected for a second one-year term as Treasurer.
Other continuing Board members include Dan Scott from The UPS Store on Lincoln Avenue, Kat Mackenzie from Neumann Association, Michael Kane from Kane Insurance Group, Inc., Scott Schechter from Eagle Strategies Corp. and Sean Monahan from Lincoln Park Financial.
