Neighborhood Schools Still Looking for LSC Candidates

Audubon Elementary is among the schools still looking for LSC candidates.

With just three days to go until CPS’ extended filing deadline on March 23, nearly every school in RVJ territory is still looking for candidates to run for Local School Council elections. We use the the term “run” loosely: Most of the positions are uncontested, so a single vote for yourself could carry the day. Not exactly ideal from a democratic perspective but then again, this is Illinois.

We’ve posted the status of candidates at each neighborhood school below, current as of March 19. CPS is updating this information daily.

HIGH SCHOOLS

Lakeview, 4015 N. Ashland Ave.

  • Six available parent slots/two candidates–needs four parents
  • Two community member slots/seven candidates

Lane Tech, 2501 W. Addison St.

  • Six parent slots/12 candidates. Whoa, we’ve got ourselves an actual horse race!
  • Two community slots/two candidates

 

ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS

Audubon, 3500 N. Hoyne Ave.

  • Six parent slots/five candidates–needs one parent
  • Two community slots/zero candidates–needs two community members

Blaine, 1420 W. Grace St.

  • Six parent slots/four candidates–needs two parents
  • Two community slots/one candidate–needs one community member

Burley, 1630 W. Barry Ave.

  • Six parent slots/seven candidates
  • Two community slots/zero candidates–needs two community members

Hamilton, 1650 W. Cornelia Ave.

  • Six parent slots/six candidates
  • Two community slots/one candidate–needs one community member

Jahn, 3149 N. Wolcott Ave.

  • Six parent slots/three candidates–needs three parents
  • Two community slots/one candidate–needs one community member
