You may have heard that the Music Box, 3733 N. Southport Ave., is bringing a bit of the Sundance Film Festival to Chicago. In a recent article, we jokingly suggested the theatre would be screening Chris Rock’s entry in the competition.
No joke, the Music Box just announced it will host Rock’s 2 Days in New York, Jan. 26, 7:30 p.m. (And yet these same psychic abilities have failed time and again to determine the winning Powerball numbers.)
The film also stars Julie Delpy, pulling triple duty as writer and director, and is a follow-up to her 2007 feature 2 Days in Paris. Delpy is perhaps best known for her turns opposite Ethan Hawke in Before Sunrise and Before Sunset.
The Sundance event typically features a Q & A with the movie’s director and/or cast, in addition to the screening. Delpy’s appearance seems a sure thing, with Rock a wild card. “We have no idea who the guests are right now,” says Dave Jennings, general manager of the Music Box. “We will know in January and will let everyone know as soon as we know.”
To hedge your bets, tickets for the event are on sale now.
