Murder Charge Reported for Death of O’Lanagan’s Owner – UPDATED

The Chicago Sun-Times and Chicago Tribune are reporting today that Andrew Salamon, 25, was charged Friday with the October 4, 2009 first-degree murder of Robert Gonzales, 69, owner of O’Lanagan’s, 2335 W. Montrose Ave.

Gonzales was found beat to death behind his bar in the early morning by police responding to a burglar alarm, and was found with $2,000 in his pocket but the keys to his bar missing, according to the Tribune.

Salamon was arrested in Harwood Heights and was denied bail at a hearing Friday, according to the Cook County Sherriff’s office. He is currently under custody in the Cook County Jail at 26th and California Ave. His next hearing is on Monday morning.
