Matty K’s Hardware, 4874 N. Lincoln Ave., opened late last year but kindly waited until spring to throw its Grand Opening bash. Actually, “grand opening” doesn’t quite do the shindig justice–with a number of neighboring businesses as partners, it’s more like Lincoln Square’s first street fest of the year. Visit the store April 28-29, 8 a.m. – 6 p.m., for food, music, raffles and great deals on merchandise.
On Saturday and Sunday, 8 a.m. – 10 a.m., early bird customers can fortify themselves with food and drink from Cafe Selmarie (Saturday), Beans & Bagels (Sunday) and Metropolis Coffee (both days). Gene’s Sausage Shop will serve lunch, 11 a.m. – 1 p.m., both days.
OK, that covers the food; on the entertainment side, Lillstreet Art Center will host kids arts projects, 1 p.m. – 5 p.m., on Saturday, and ensembles from the Old Town School of Folk Music will perform 2 p.m. – 6 p.m., also on Saturday. Sunday features kids music by Lisa DeRosia at noon and story time at 1:30 p.m.
