A year-end survey of Lincoln Square businesses conducted by the Lincoln Square Chamber of Commerce found that despite the national economic downturn, most local businesses reported increases in foot traffic and sales for 2009 in comparison to 2008.
Respondents to the survey claimed an average 5% increase in sales, with one business, Sacred Art, reporting sales up 45% over last year.
At Timeless Toys, Ltd., fourth quarter sales were up almost 10% over last year. Owner Martha Burrow says, ?Holiday?shopping began in mid-October and many customers were making ‘investment’ purchases.”
“We are fortunate in our community to be welcoming new businesses to the Square in this downed economy. This year alone, 10 new or newly expanded businesses have invested in Lincoln Square,? said Melissa Flynn, Executive Director of the Lincoln Square Chamber of Commerce.
