After months of planning and waiting, the empty lot at 4811 N. Lincoln Ave. is finally receiving applications for neighbors who want to transform it into a community garden. Squeezed between two buildings, the city-owned lot is what remains from a 2008 struggle over redevelopment of the northeast corner of Lawrence and Western.
Anyone may apply for a 11′ x 9′ lot and applicants are being accepted on a first-come first-served basis. The garden is being maintained by the Lincoln Square Chamber of Commerce. There is a $25 application fee.
A copy of the application can be found here.
