Opening up a cupcake shop is the office drone’s fondest daydream. Who wouldn’t want to play with frosting all day? But there’s more to the cupcake business than a killer recipe for buttercream.

To learn the ins and outs of the cupcake trade, hear advice from the pros at the Cupcake Business Class on Sept. 12, from 1–4 p.m., at Bleeding Heart Bakery‘s Roscoe Village location (1955 W. Belmont Ave.).

The seminar is hosted by blogger Rachel Kramer Bussel of Cupcakes Take the Cake. She’ll grill Michelle Garcia of Bleeding Heart and Sheela Namakkal of Cake Eater Bakery in Minneapolis on the secrets of running a successful cupcake operation: how to get started, financial and legal issues, marketing strategies, and more.

Registration is $50 per person. Only 20 spots are available and they’re filling up fast.
