If you’re still harboring dreams of becoming the next Mary Lou Retton or turning your infant daughter into the next Nastia Liukin, IK Gymnastics (IKG), just opened at 2630B W. Bradley Place and has a training program to suit your delusions/ambitions.

The spanking new 16,000-square-foot facility, also available for parties, is run by Irina Kudina, former member of the Soviet Union Junior Olympic Team and head coach of Lake Shore Academy’s girls gymnastics team for the past 10 years.

IKG offers a wide range of classes aimed at individuals of various abilities and ages: nine-month-olds learn the basics of movement while adult tumblers retrain muscles they likely haven’t used since grade school. A special program for boys makes use of their energy and enthusiasm, incorporating free-running and parkour techniques with gymnastics.

Girls can sign up just for fun or gain acceptance onto one of IK’s teams. IK’s GIJO Team offers recreational gymnasts an opportunity to participate in competitions. The IK Team identifies the most promising gymnasts to train for the USA Junior Olympic Program.

Me, I’d be happy to turn a somersault.

Now you all are confusing me!  I thought North Center was north of Addison and thus was part of Center Square Journal.  The area from Addison to Irving Park seems to get bounced around a lot and is difficult to keep track of!
