Remember the last time you started a project around the house and realized halfway through that you had no clue what you were doing? Perhaps a little advice from the pros would come in handy. Check out these upcoming home and garden seminars at Sulzer Library (4455 N. Lincoln), led by experts in their respective fields.

For those who thought the gardening season was over, not so fast?don?t put those spades away just yet. Turns out, fall is the perfect time to plant the bulbs that will bloom so beautifully in the spring. On Thursday, September 23, the Chicago Botanic Garden presents ?Planting Bulbs for Your Spring Garden,? 7-8:30 p.m. Topics include choosing the right bulbs, maintenance and how to coordinate with other plants.

If you?ve been thinking about a major (or even minor) renovation to your home, but have no idea where to begin, it?s the Chicago chapter of the American Institute of Architects to the rescue. On Saturday, October 16, AIA presents ?Making Your House Into a Home: Working With an Architect,? 10 a.m. ? noon. Find out what you need to know before starting a renovation, everything from budgeting to identifying your design preferences. The session includes a free, face-to-face, 15-minute consultation with a registered architect. Bring plans, drawings or ideas to receive an objective opinion about your project. Registration is required at www.aiachicago.org or 312-670-7770.
