Half Acre Responds to Charges of Favoritism

By Patty Wetli | Wednesday, June 22, 2011

Just in time for the annual Crosstown Classic, Chicagoist decided to add a little fuel to the old North Side vs. South Side feud.

Reporting that pints of Half Acre’s Daisy Cutter Pale Ale were scarce to non-existent at various South Side pubs, Chicagoist seemed to imply that the Lincoln Avenue brewery showed a preference for North Side outlets. Though the article gave Half Acre owner Gabriel Magliaro an opportunity to rebut the theory, Magliaro took to Half Acre’s blog to further clarify his position:

“… We run out of beer on an all too regular basis at the bars & stores that have already been supporting our brewery. Our added capacity that we create in our brewery allows us to make good on the relationships that exist today.

These aren’t distributor issues, these aren’t law driven decisions and they certainly aren’t preferential treatment towards one side of a city or location.”
