GrubWithUs Hits Lincoln Square

GrubWithUs is a new restaurant reservation site that combines social media with socializing. Site owners, Daishin Sugano and Eddie Lu, created the service to help local restaurant owners promote their businesses while encouraging eager diners to connect with other foodies.

From the calendar of upcoming meals, participants can review opportunities, reserve their spot and pay online. Registration is required (but free) and so is a minimum number of participants in order for the meal to take place.

Restaurant Sarajevo, 2701 W. Lawrence, is hosting dinner on Thursday, December 9 at 7:30 P.M. and the site indicates that one more reservation is needed to make sure it happens. The set menu includes salad, spinach-cheese pie (a.k.a. burek I believe), grilled veal, chicken kebab, sausages, and Pljeskavica (cheese-stuffed meat), plus crepes for dessert, and will be served family-style.

Previous meals “grubbed” include dinners at Isla Pilipina in Lincoln Square, Sun Wah BBQ in Uptown, Machu Picchu in Lakeview, and Ethiopian Diamond in Edgewater. Meals typically cost $20-$25, but the earlier people make their reservations the lower the cost.

Sugano predicted another dinner at Isla Pilipina will be scheduled soon, and they are looking for other restaurants in the Lincoln Square/Northcenter/Albany Park area to participate next year.
