The Friends of Coonley are holding the 6th Annual Spring Fling Auction and Fundraiser on Saturday, April 2, 2011, says organization president Kathie Bock.
“Our goal for this year’s fundraiser is $110,000,” says Bock. “Last year, we raised $107,000. We try to set a realistic goal and then hopefully do a bit better. Especially in this economy, we are sensitive to trying to overreach.”
Set to be held in the DANK Haus, 4740 N. Western Ave., all funds raised will be used in support of John C. Coonley Elementary School, 4046 N. Leavitt St. Proceeds raised in the past have provided Spanish and music instruction for grades Pre-K to 8th, funded a library media resource center, an interactive science center and purchased supplemental technology and curriculum materials for the classrooms, says Bock.
The next meeting of the Friends of Coonley is Tuesday, Jan. 11 at 7 p.m. in the school library.
