Food Truck Parking Spots Proposed for Roscoe Village, West Lakeview

Three of the city’s designated 23 food-truck stand locations will be in the Roscoe Village and West Lakeview area. An ordinance that passed in July, restricted food-truck parking to remain 200 feet away from food-service establishments. This was limiting for the meals on wheels, due to potential low foot traffic and parking difficulties.

The new ordinance would provide an amendment to the former restriction, and if approved, will reserve three places in the Roscoe Village and West Lakeview that were carefully chosen.

“The locations we selected we based on places that were heavily traveled through the day,” said Heather Way, Executive Director of the Lakeview Chamber Commerce. “Lack of lunch options has been a problem for the area and the food trucks will be a great addition. They’re a growing trend and not everyone has time to sit down at a restaurant to eat.”

If the ordinance is approved, Roscoe Village and West Lakeview residents can find at least two trucks parked at the following area locations:

  • 3627 N. Southport Ave.
  • 3420 N. Lincoln Ave.
  • 3241 N. Lincoln Ave.
