After announcing earlier this year that it would trade one Lincoln Avenue address for another, Fleet Feet Sports is finally ready to settle into its new home.

On Monday, November 1, Fleet Feet will close up shop at 4555 N. Lincoln to prepare for the move. The new store, at 4762 N. Lincoln, will officially open its doors Nov. 8, but may be ready for business sooner, according to David Dowd, vice president of brand and product marketing. Customers should check the company’s web site to see which side of Lincoln they should be shopping on during the transitional week.

A Celebration Fun Run is planned for November 8, at 6:30 p.m., to christen the new store. Participants will meet at Fleet Feet for a 3-6 mile run, then return for Goose Island beer, refreshments and free injury screenings from Accelerated Rehabilitation Center. They’ll also have a chance to get a look at the new digs, which are markedly larger than the old. Fleet Feet now occupies three levels, two open to the public and one for storage. The first level features an expanded selection of running gear, while the second houses a community space that will be used for seminars and provide a more convenient area for race packet pick-ups.

Speaking of seminars, now that October has stopped pretending to be July, it’s the perfect time to start thinking about running in snow, ice and sub-zero temperatures. Sign up for Fleet Feet’s “Cold, Colder, Coldest,” scheduled for November 7, at 5:30 p.m., to learn how to stay warm and toasty while running in the brutal elements. We’re guessing this doesn’t involve a Snuggie.
