Five Questions with Lulu Jacobs

By Brad Bretz | Wednesday, November 3, 2010

Lulu Jacobs is the owner of Ravensgoods at 4703 N Damen Ave.  Ravensgoods is a boutique with an eye for the unique. Many of the items Lulu sells are made in-house, or from local artisans.  Personalized notecards, fine jewelry & colorful handbags as well as Chicago themed gifts like vintage CTA posters, photographs of the city and more. Lulu fills her shop with things she loves and wants you to love too.  Lulu, who has worked in the wholesale biz for many years, took her passion for wares and opened her shop in late 2009.  Ravensgoods will be celebrating their first anniversary on Saturday, November 13 and the whole neighborhood is invited. So stop by and get acquainted with Lulu and her shop.  It’s all good in the neighborhood at Ravensgoods!

1.What brought you to the area?

I run a wholesale business and I was looking for a small studio space on Ravenswood Ave., but while stuck in traffic during a thunderstorm on Damen, I looked over and saw this space for rent!

2.What are some of your favorite things about the neighborhood?

I love the neighborhood; I just think it’s beautiful. I love the houses, the big yards, it’s got a mellow vibe and it’s mostly independents, you don’t see any big chains.

3.What’s your favorite neighborhood place to relax?

We have The Perfect Cup across the street. Nice little coffee shop!

4.What would you like to see change or improve in the neighborhood?

I love the people; I’d just like to see a little bit more activity as far as businesses moving over here.

5.What’s your favorite event in the neighborhood?

The Raven. We took part in the event at Chase Park with the Ravenswood Chamber of Commerce. Tricia Martinelli, who ran the event, was awesome, she’s just a little go-getter and she was so enthusiastic.
