Five Aldermen And Superintendent To Brief Community On 19th District Changes

Five area Aldermen are organizing a community meeting with Chicago Police Superintendent Garry McCarthy next Tuesday in the Lakeview High School Auditorium, 4015 N. Ashland Ave., at 6:30 p.m. next Tuesday, November 15. The meeting will address the planned merger of the 19th and 23rd Police Districts in 2012.

Despite the merger plans, Chicago police leadership have stated that the old 19th District building at 2452 W. Belmont Ave. will continue to be used. The building will remain home to a detective squad, Cook County courts and a lockup for the courts and detectives.

Ald. Joe Moreno (1st), Ald. Scott Waguespack (32nd), Ald. Michele Smith (43rd), Ald. Tom Tunney (44th) and Ald. Ameya Pawar are scheduled to appear at meeting.
