The first meeting of the 47th Ward Council, billed as an orientation, has been set for 6:45 p.m., next Thursday, October 27 at the Ravenswood United Church of Christ, 2050 W. Pensacola Ave. The Ward Council, a centerpiece of Ald. Ameya Pawar’s campaign this past winter, is meant to advise him on, “current issues, such as city services, legislative policies, and other community concerns.”
The Council, which has no formal authority and is only advisory, is made up of of representatives from block clubs around the ward. The block clubs too, are a creation of Ald. Pawar, since few of them existed before this past spring, when Pawar began to encourage the creation of block clubs and that he would be accepting representatives of the block clubs on the newly created Ward Council.
